Angelmó

Angelmó

Minutes from the Center of Puerto Montt-Chile is one of the most attractive and typical Cultural Heritage of Southern Chile, ANGELMO.
"Angel Mo" as the natives called it, by the name of its benefactor Angel Montt, had in the decade of the 20 a vigorous commercial activity that continues until our days.
From Chiloe, Calbuco and Palena, they continually brought sailing boats carrying varied products that were traded or exchanged with the islanders.
The picturesque life of the cove became famous through the canvases of Arturo Pacheco Altamirano and the "School of Angelmó" who shaped the idiosyncrasy of its people and its surroundings, captivating hundreds of tourists who came to know this magical place.
A very special attraction delivered to the cove the sailboats, which arrived in Angelmó until 1960. Currently, only for the chilota regatta that takes place at the end of February it is possible to go back to the past and enjoy its beauty.
However, its importance as a place of arrival and navigation remains valid, since from here sail boats to the adjacent islands of Maillen and Huar, as well as ferries to the archipelago of Chiloe, Chaitén and the southern areas of Chacabuco, Laguna San Rafael and Puerto Natales.
